thanks for your opinion and we are proudly want to tell you that we already took some Real step for that.
Maybe maximum friends of ours doesnt know but we started working on sevaral website and already started brodcasting a website named http://www.noakhali.org where we will serv voluntary works for Social organizations of noakhali to make a better web community and DATA base which maybe will brodcast many features not only about Cyclone but health, agricultural, cultural and all other development related works. We are also will try our best to present a tourism related area to highlight Nijhum Dip, Char, Char-bata forest.
Hope Siraj bhai will able to say some more details about our Plan of Action.

Washington DC - November 16, 2007: The Bangladeshi-American Foundation, Inc. (BAFI) expresses deep sorrow at the loss of life and properties from the ferocious Cyclone Sidr that swept across the low-lying watery edges of southern Bangladesh late Thursday, downing trees, crashing mobile telephone towers and sweeping away thousands of homes. Initial estimate of the death toll is over 280, but is expected to rise several folds.

BAFI appeals for support to help those who need our help most at this tragic time in their life. As in the past, we will work through well-known NGOs in Bangladesh to provide relief and medium term help including support for construction of more cyclone shelters in the low-lying areas of Bangladesh.

For US residents, all donations are tax-deductible as permitted by the Internal Revenue Code.

[ Noakhali Online Group ] Volunteers for Sahana Project

Most of you know about the Open Source Disaster Management Software
Sahana. Sahana was built immediate after the Tsunami in 2004 December
and readily became the de-facto DMT in different countries.

Recently some of our alumni in IBM tooks an inititive to introduce
sahana in BD. With the coordination from Local IBM Dealer, Thakral BD
and its CTO Mr Shahjaman Majumder, Bir Protik, they quickly mobilize
the following resources.

1. A local server donated by Thakral to Disaster Management Bureue
2. 5 persons from US IBM and 2 person from Lankan Software Foundation
to setup this server
3. One server donated by IBM USA for AFD.
4. Two Volunteer from BUET to work at DMB

Then we have had a meeting with the team. Now to continue this effort
and to do some customization and localization we need your help.

We need 20+ Volunteer to initially support this systems. The
volunteers will have to do the following-

1. Maintaining the Sahana system at DMB, for the time being
2. Understand thooughly the architecture of Sahana
3. Do some Customization
4. Documented the process of maintaining the systems
and
5. Capacited the DMB personnel for the system maintenance and operation.

All the volunteer will have to work initially at DMB, Mohakhali, Dhaka
and after sometimes, some of them will have to move to Barisal where
the second system will be set-up.

The volunteers has to give some amount of time daily.

Those who have good foundation on Linux based systems, have some
exposure to PHP will be preferred.

Please note that this is an humanitarian task and we need only VOLUNTEERs.
